CHEN TAI CHI AUSTRALIA
Tai chi chuan is an internal martial art practiced for both its self defence applications and health benefits. Tai chi is an applied philosophy that works with the forces of yin and yang. Tai chi nurtures energy flow, or chi, and promotes balance in the body. It is real and tangible, and changes can be felt during and after practice, improving your inner and outer wellbeing.
Regular practice of tai chi promotes:
STRENGTH
MINDFULNESS
NEUROPLASTICITY
RELAXATION
BALANCE
FLEXIBILITY
Tai chi chuan (Taiji quan) literally translates to ‘supreme ultimate fist’, and while tai chi was founded as a martial art, many practice it simply for self expression, the joy that it brings, and the health that follows.

CLASSES
CHEN TAI CHI AUSTRALIA follows the lineage of Master Chen Yingjun and his father, Grand Master Chen Xiaowang. Master Chen encourages us to build our foundations through standing (zhan zhuang) and silk reeling (chan si gong) practice, which are then applied in the tai chi form (liao jia).
Classes are divided into 3 parts:
Standing mindfulness practice
Silk reeling
Tai chi form

ZHAN ZHUANG
After gentle stretching and loosening, one is then adjusted into this standing posture for deep breathing, energy (chi) cultivation and circulation, and to promote deep relaxation.
CHAN SI GONG
Silk reeling exercises are practiced together to strengthen and coordinate "whole body" movement from the centre (dantien).
LIAO JIA

The repetition of movements and postures that comprise the tai chi form. The form is characterised by alternating slow and fast movements, and bursts of power.
GROUP CLASSES
Perfect for beginners or experienced practitioners alike, group classes are a great way to dip your toes in and learn the basic principles in a structured yet social environment.
ONE-ON-ONE
Experience the maximum benefit with focused, one-on-one sessions.

CHEN STYLE
Of the 5 root forms of tai chi, Chen style is the original and considered most potent in China, dating back over 500 years to the creator of tai chi, General Chen Wangting (above).
Master Chen Yingjun has been training from childhood and - with incredible discipline and intensity - is firmly following in his father’s footsteps to tai chi mastery and greatness.

Grand Master Chen Xiaowang is considered a national living treasure by the Chinese government and is the 19th generation standard forbearer of Chen style tai chi.

CHEN TAI CHI AUSTRALIA promotes and fosters Chen style and ensures the creators and custodians are rightfully acknowledged.
