Liao Jia (or 'old frame'), is the primary form in Chen Style. A fluid series of movements and postures, one form takes approximately 13-15 minutes to complete.

Liao Jia is characterised by alternating slow and fast movements, and bursts of power.

Chen Style Tai Chi weapon forms are an extension of the barehanded forms. A variety of short and long range weapons are practiced to enhance and reinforce the underlying principles. The jian (thin sword), broadsword, spear, and guan dao vary in complexity and number of movements but all are fluid and high-energy forms.
